Getting Started at the LACS Research Center
- An Index for much of the RC Collection is available in a three-ring binder on each one of the visitor’s work tables.
- Consult with the RC staff to see is if any other researchers are also searching your family(s)
- Review book Luxembourgers In The New World especially the chapter pertaining to the US State(s) where your relatives lived.
- Review the Index to the Luxemburger Gazette newspaper (1871-1918). View all of the citations that might pertain to the family members you are researching
- Check to see if the RC has Sacramental/Cemetery Records for the community you are researching
- Check to see if the RC has a probate file for your ancestor (Ozaukee County, Wisconsin only)
- Consult census records (Ozaukee County, Wisconsin and a few Luxembourg communities only)
- Check to see if the RC has a Place file for the community your ancestor resided in either in Luxembourg or the US
- Check to see if the RC has a book in its stacks pertaining to the community your ancestors resided in either in Luxembourg or the US
- Check to see if the RC has a Church file for the church you ancestor belonged to.
- If looking for immigration information, consult Germans To America series. Start by using hardcopy books and then, if necessary, use CDs.
- Consult maps/plats index, other Luxembourg heritage files, directories, photograph collection, and audio/visual materials
